Is It Cool Or Tacky To Wear Black On The Ski Slopes?

Congratulations! You have finally made the decision to buy a ski helmet. It is always a good idea to protect your head. You need your brain for so many things! Buying your helmet probably was not an easy task. There were a lot of things to consider.

You probably gave some thought to price and quality. Though even the cheapest protective headgear must pass certain standards tests, there is still a big difference in prices and features. The practical side of you wanted to get the best quality for the best price.

You probably spent even more time agonizing over the look of your helmet than you did over its effectiveness. The aerodynamic features were only one of your considerations. In fact, the wind sheer factor probably took a distant second place to the cool look of an aerodynamically designed helmet.

Then there was the color. You knew perfectly well that the color was not going to have anything to do with how well it worked, but that did not stop you from spending as much time or more making a color decision as you had spent on your other decisions.

You were probably attracted to a lot of different colors. Red always stands out and makes you take a second look, but does it stand out too much? That matte grey helmet had a great look to it, but would it look bland on the slopes. You probably even wondered about things like whether or not your headgear would go with your black sport watch!

In the end, the one you came back to again and again was the black helmet. The only thing that held you back was its color. You identify black with Darth Vader and the Gothic look and neither of those suits your personality. Still it looks so very cool!

Go for the black color if that is the one you like the most. As long as you do not wear black from top to bottom, you will be on safe ground. What color is your ski parka? What color are your pants? If they are not black, you’ll be okay, even if your ski boots are also black. Just avoid all black at all costs!

Black can be either cool or tacky depending on how you use it. As a rule of thumb, wearing all of any color from head to foot is usually tacky. One exception to that rule might be white, but wearing all white on the ski slopes has its disadvantages. For one thing, people might mistake you for a Ninja assassin. For another, if you get lost or have an accident, nobody will be able to see you. Wear something that contrasts with the color of the snow.
