There are several ebooks for sale on the internet that claim to show how you can save much if not all of your air fare whenever you decide to fly from A to B. Many other deals are mentioned, such as hotel bookings, auto rental, cruise vacations, reduced theme park admissions – a huge list of possibilities for savings in travel costs.
Some seasoned travelers seem to be incensed by such information products. Why should we pay for something when it is already freely available on the internet? It’s a con! Why would any person with any shred of integrity be seen anywhere within 100 miles of these dreadful salespeople? Only idiots would be sucked in by these sorts of claims! And so on, and on, and on.
Well, I research and sell data and information to people who specifically want to buy it. Travel agents do this as well, and do not come in for the same criticism from the travel gurus. Many people are engaged in the information industry, one way or another, and provide news, advice, guidance and information that we all like or need to access from time to time.
In my opinion it is the prejudice of these travel gurus that is behind such attitudes. Having traveled extensively myself, often in obscure corners of the world, I know that you often have to make your own arrangements using unfamiliar airline data and trying to get hotel rooms in a foreign language, all the time ready to change schedules at a moment’s notice to meet a new business timetable. This is what makes seasoned travelers feel superior to ‘ordinary’ people.
It is NOT easy to find all the necessary information when planning for travel without the help of an experienced agent. It is difficult to locate quickly when needed. And most of the travel experts have found their own shortcuts for arranging easier and better journeys without wasting time on tricky phone calls or impossible internet connections. So I think it is quite acceptable to sell this knowledge and information to those who want the convenience rather than having to research it themselves.
Basically, that is the point of these travel guides. They show you the ‘inside track’ to getting easier, cheaper and more comfortable travel arrangements. This saves you time and money and ensures that you find the best way to go, often in a higher class or grade than you might have thought possible.
However, there is also the matter of the many perks and freebies available to travel agents. Is it possible to gain access to all these industry promos and allowances? Indeed it is.
A good budget travel guide will show you how to tap into these insider ‘secrets’ and use them to your advantage. You should not have to pay more than for one of these guides, and the ones I recommend also have proper guarantees that will refund your money in full without question if you are not satisfied – a risk-free investment. At the very least they are very interesting to read and are full of ideas.
If you are planning for travel, we have a favorite guide to recommend on our website. I strongly suggest you give it a try – you can always get your money back. But I think you will prefer to keep it, because it is a mine of useful advice, tips and information for the demanding traveler.
Have a great trip!
