Things You Should Know about Vacations In Blackpool, England

Blackpool is an immensely popular seaside resort residing on the North West coast of England, which is immensely popular with visitors arriving from the close by towns and cities which include Liverpool, Warrington, Manchester and more. The town is also deeply popular with visitors from all over Scotland who often arrive in large groups rather like the groups of factory workers of old on their works day out. Occasionally it would appear that the town is awash with vacation accommodation and entertainments and even though there is an incredibly amount of bed and breakfast accommodation in Blackpool it is advisable to book in advance to be certain. Guest houses varies from the cheerful and cheap to the totally luxurious. Many are on the sea front but, if you prefer stay something less noisy you will find a few further away.

Folk first started to visit Blackpool in the 18th century who came to enjoy the new practice of sea bathing. When the railway arrived, from 1846, the resort witnessed more and more visitors arriving to “take the cure” as it was called. These days tourists can get to Blackpool by road, aeroplane or rail arriving there much faster than the Victorian tourists who could take up to 2 days from Manchester.

The Famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach

The most popular attraction in the resort, in Lancashire in the north west of England, which attracts around seven million customers per annum, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The Pleasure Beach is a funfair of enormous proportions with stomach churning big rides, for example Grand National, Valhalla, the Pepsi Max Big One, Ice Blast, Zipper Dipper and Wild Mouse, and including many, many more sideshows, thrill rides, food booths, children’s rides, sidestalls and games. The most recent addition is Infusion, the world’s first to have a coaster of suspended loops completely over water.

Please note: If you are planning to visit the Pleasure Beach as a family or group it is possible to save pennies by purchasing an unlimited ride ticket especially if you will be going on as many rides as possible as individual prices soon starts to add up.

How To Get There And Bed And Breakfast

Blackpool is, as mentioned earlier, very easy to get to nowadays as you are able to get there by air, road or railway. Arriving by rail you will, probably, arrive at the main rail station in Blackpool, which is called Blackpool North on Talbot Road. Not that fat away, just a short distance further down the road you will find Blackpool National Express Coach Station, the main coach station. The other Blackpool train station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, which is far closer to the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool’s airport is located about two miles south of the town centre and was previously called, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of Britain’s oldest airports.

Blackpool bed and breakfast accommodation is generally priced fairly low. Rooms are cheaper in the off season and not so cheap on weekends. Blackpool hotels are at their most costly while the Illuminations are on, which is really peak season in Blackpool.

Please remember: Some bed and breakfasts can be extremely busy especially those located between Central Pier and North Pier. If you need somewhere less noisy try booking somewhere beyond the North Pier.
